Casted Finally

After a very stressful week of trying to get to see the right doctor for Michael's broken hand, today we finally got to see the orthopedic surgeon and the good news was that Michael does not need surgery, as we were first informed.
It was kind of funny when he was telling us that he was planning on casting it. He said to Michael "Do you want me to numb it, or can you just take it?". Michael said "I'll just take it" and so the doctor then hurried out of the room to get the stuff he needed. I asked Michael if he realised that the doctor was going to realign the bone by pressing and manipulating it. He went a funny color and decided that he wanted to be numb. I can't say I blame him. Anyway, it wasn't as bad as Michael was anticipating and the picture shows the finished result.
He has to go back in a week to check it's healing okay and at that point he may be able to have this ugly plaster cast removed and replaced with a fiberglass one of the color of his choice. His dad thinks he should have pink, but I have a feeling that Michael's choice will be black. All in all, he'll have to remain casted for about 4 weeks.

I'm so glad he finally got in! He looks rather proud of the cast he got for "socking" his brother!
